BIG baby boy

When we went to the ultrasound yesterday (Josh, my Mom and I) I didn't know what to expect, but I didn't expect them to find a 9 lb 8 oz. baby in there. We have had 3 ultrasounds total due to the baby always measuring a lil ahead...but the body parts on the screen we WAAAAY huger than last time. huuuge head. huuuuge belly. huuuuge...um, package. He is in the correct head down posterior position, so we weren't able to get any cute face shots. I told the doc there (not my doc, the ultrasound doc) that my sister was told her baby was 10 lbs but he came out 8.12. She said there is a margin of error, about a pound or pound and a half...so the baby could only be 8.5 lbs. right now, but he could also be 10.5 lbs. Last night I had 2 friends that told me they would be surprised if my doc didnt call me today or as soon as they get the results and have me come in to be induced.
I was too impatient so I called the dr. today. They told me I could probably opt for a c-section if I wanted to. I don't want to. They said on my next appt. Thursday we can schedule an induction for sometime in week 39 (which is next week)...the week my doc goes out of town...on 09/09/09 is the first day she is gone!!!! im so mad!!!
My sister Jana's first baby Carmen was over 9 lbs and she did it natural, so I can too. My Aunt Dru delivered a baby over 9 lbs and both of these women are teeny. So dangit, I'm not going to give up and just have a c-section.
My sister typically has long deliveries...so I am going to push for the day before dr. goes out of town...09/08/09...which is my mom's birthday. Then hopefully I'm in labor forever and have the baby after midnight...making it a 09/09/09 baby!!!!!! It's genius, right?? Cuz if he is born on 09/08/09 that is still cool! Same birthday as Grandma!

The docs can be really annoying sometimes! They usually won't induce u early unless you are having health problems. Especially with your first. I am guessing he will be smaller than that though they said Tegan was well over 8 lbs and was only 7lbs 9oz Hang in there! I promise it is worth it even though you aren't thinking that right now :)

O wow! That is cool you got to have another ultrasound, both our kids we only went on 11 weeks and 20 weeks and that was all. Good luck with the dates- I am just glad we made it to september so two of the numbers are 09! I am ready to drive to the hospital now :) We will see if she gets 01 or 02 for her birthday! Zach was 8lbs 12oz and his weight was the least of my worries! I am guessing she will be big since she has had 5 extra days to cook!! Good luck, you will be great!

Oh goodness Carly...when I read your title Big Big Boy my heart almost stopped beating in excitement that you'd had your baby!!! You tricked me with the whole ultrasound thing - ha! I hope you have him on 09/09/09...that's how special he is to everyone...a once in a century baby :) Oh and Lauren is SOOOOOO grateful to you and Josh. His tips are really helping her. She is now playing both JV and Varsity Volleyball - yay for her. She's a hard worker - just like her cousin who wore a pit in the backyard practicing her softball pitch :)

Love you!

yeah don't do a C/S Deegan was 9.8lbs and it was fine. and its true when you're that far along there is a greater margin of error. but i've had late ultrasounds with my last 2 and they have been pretty stinkin close. gunner was measuring 5 lbs something at 32 weeks so they induced me at 38 weeks and he was still 8.7lbs so the whole 1/2 pound a week thing added up right :) you'll do great!
